We’re here to support you or your loved one with personalized, non-surgical scoliosis care that focuses on long-term function and comfort.

What Is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a condition characterized by an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine, often shaped like an “S” or “C.” It typically develops during childhood or adolescence but can also appear in adults due to spinal degeneration, injury, or underlying conditions.
There are several types of scoliosis:
Idiopathic Scoliosis – The most common form, often developing in adolescence with no known cause.
Congenital Scoliosis – Present at birth due to spinal abnormalities.
Degenerative (Adult-Onset) Scoliosis – Caused by spinal wear-and-tear over time.
Neuromuscular Scoliosis – Related to neurological or muscular conditions such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
Symptoms of Scoliosis
Scoliosis symptoms can vary depending on the degree of curvature and the individual. Some may experience only minor discomfort, while others face more noticeable effects.
Common signs include:
Uneven shoulders or hips
Visible curve in the spine
One shoulder blade that appears more prominent
Clothing that fits unevenly
Back pain or stiffness
Reduced range of motion
Fatigue when standing or walking
If left unaddressed, scoliosis can progress over time and lead to chronic pain, limited mobility, and even respiratory issues in severe cases.
How Chiropractic Care Helps Scoliosis
Chiropractic care doesn’t “cure” scoliosis, but it can significantly improve spinal function, reduce discomfort, and help prevent further progression—especially when treatment begins early.
Benefits of Chiropractic for Scoliosis:
Improves spinal alignment and biomechanics
Reduces muscle tension and imbalances
Alleviates back pain and discomfort
Enhances mobility and flexibility
Promotes better posture and nervous system function
Supports a more active, pain-free lifestyle
At SeaCoast Clinic, we begin with a detailed assessment utilizing the Gonstead Method's system of analysis which includes X-Rays, Palpation, Instrumentation, Visualization, and Case Management to determine the type and severity of scoliosis. We then develop a customized care plan tailored to your specific needs and your health goals in mind.
Our Scoliosis Approach
Using gentle, precise chiropractic adjustments and supportive therapies, we help restore balance to the spine and reduce stress on affected areas. We may also recommend postural exercises, lifestyle modifications, and ongoing corrective care to help manage scoliosis effectively over time.
Our care is safe and appropriate for both children and adults, with special consideration given to comfort and long-term spinal health.
